Spring Shorts Try-on!
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that every year I struggle to find a pair of denim jeans that are both comfortable and flattering. Either they are too tight around my thick thighs, or they gap obscenely at the back of my waist; sometimes both. Today I tried on a bunch of shorts at the mall, and I’m linking 8 of them with my notes on comfort, design, and fit.
Top Shop Mom Jeans
These shorts were comfortable and cute, but ran big. I usually size up in shorts and these ended up being true to size. The back pockets weren’t the greatest, and they did have a gap in the back but were not tight around the thighs. Loved the rips!
Free People Denim Shorts
These shorts were my least favorite pair. I tried them on in my regular size and they were very tight around the thighs. They are mid-rise, with no gap only because they’re so tight. Might have worked if I sized up though.
Express Side Stripe Shorts
Every pair of shorts I tried on at Express were EXTREMELY comfortable. Their denim is buttery soft and they offer a ton of different cuts. These were cute but unfortunately gapped in the back, and were a little short for me.
Express Long Denim Shorts
A great option if you’re looking for a longer pair, and don’t suffer from gap waist. These gapped a lot in the back for me, but otherwise were very comfortable and flattering.
Express Vintage Cut Shorts
These shorts are awesome! Top three from this group for sure. They have a great design, very flattering on the bum, high waisted, with almost no gapping. Love them! I tried on a 6 which is true to size, plenty of room to move around!
Levi’s Wedgie Fit Light Wash Short
My favorite pair in the group all around! These shorts are super flattering (peach emojis everywhere)! They had a small gap but nothing crazy, and flared out from my thighs which is a design I love. These Levi’s come in a few different washes, but I loved this light wash the best! I’m waiting for a sale to get these bad boys….
BDG Mom Short
I wanted to love these, but they were just meh. Flattering on the bum, but a huge gap in the back. Womp, womp.
Hollister Mom Jeans
I was very impressed with these shorts! I haven’t been into Hollister in forever and was pleasantly surprised by all the cute things they had. These shorts were also very soft and comfy with a little stretch. High waisted, not too short, and they made my butt look great. Plus, they were the cheapest jeans I tried on! They offer a TON of color options, including the white pair that I showed on my Instagram stories. I’m probably gonna order a few things from here honestly.
